The registration team is happy to announce that registration is open for the fifth New England Regional Mindfulness Retreat in the Plum Village tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh. The retreat will be held on October 24-27, 2019, at the Hulbert Outdoor Center in Fairlee, Vermont. New and experienced mindfulness practitioners are welcome.
Coming together as a regional community is a beautiful opportunity to energize our practice of mindfulness, deepen our understanding of transformational teachings, meet new people and reconnect with old friends. Much of our time together will be in Noble Silence. However, there is also time created for sharing mindfully in conversation.
This year we will be working with the theme: “The Three Doors of Liberation”
Three beloved Dharma teachers in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh, Michael Ciborski, Fern Dorrensteyn and Richard Brady will be our guides. They offer this description of the retreat’s theme: We all want to be free, to touch life and all its wonders, in the here and the now. There are entryways into this freedom, doorways that take us past the illusions that block our way. The doorways to freedom are the practices of emptiness, signlessness, and aimlessness.
At this retreat, with the loving support of our teachers and the sangha, we will begin to gain access to these doorways of freedom, so that we can deeply touch the realities of life, and be free from our illusions.
Fern and Michael are former Plum Village Monastics and founders of MorningSun Mindfulness Community, in Alstead, New Hampshire. Richard Brady is the founder of the Mindfulness in Education Network.
The Hulbert Outdoor Center is located on Lake Morey, surrounded by acres of woodlands. It is a beautiful fall venue for our retreat. There are six four-room heated cabins, a dormitory, and camping sites to choose from. The Center will offer a vegan menu. Refrigeration is provided for those with special dietary needs. The pictures on the right side of the web page offer examples of the venue.
