Winter Dharma Teaching Session Descriptions
January 24 (Session 1) – Finding Freedom through the Wisdom of Interbeing
An exploration of the Heart Sutra, learning to understand our true nature, which is not separate from the world around us.
February 7 (Session 2) – Cutting through Suffering with Great Understanding
People are often caught in grasping, fear and sorrow, and we can meet this challenge with the wisdom that has the power to cut through suffering, and offer clarity and freedom.
“We will look with unprejudiced eyes and use the sword of understanding to cut through the bonds of suffering, thus freeing ourselves and other species.” – the Bodhisattva of Great Wisdom
February 21 (Session 3) – Cultivating Compassion and Faith in Awakened Nature
To truly offer love we need a resource of compassion based on the capacity to listen deeply and embrace suffering. We have no enemies. We need confidence in our own, and everyone’s capacity to heal and awaken.
“Listening deeply with all our attention and openheartedness, we already alleviate a great deal of pain and suffering in the other person”. – the Bodhisattva of Great Compassion
“We vow to water only the positive seeds in ourselves and in others, so that our thoughts, words, and actions can encourage confidence and self-acceptance in ourselves, our children, our loved ones, and in everyone we meet.” – the Bodhisattva of Great Faith
March 7 (Session 4) – Great Action and the Path of Service with Freedom and Joy
With determination and inner freedom we can have energy and joy as we love and serve the world.
“We aspire to practice joy on the path of service, aware that every word, every look, every action, and every smile can bring happiness to others.” – the Bodhisattva of Great Action
“Realizing the qualities of perseverance and stability, like the Earth, we will not to forget about or abandon whose cries for help, justice, equality, and human rights are not being heard.” – the Bodhisattva of Great Aspiration
